Retrospective Study by Mehnert et al. (2026) Shows 100% Survival Rate of Zeramex XT After 24 Months

In the retrospective study by Mehnert et al. (2026), the clinical and radiographic outcomes of the two-piece ceramic implant system Zeramex XT were evaluated over a follow-up period of 24 months. The survival rate was 100%, and the success rate was 93.2%.

The retrospective study included 35 patients with 63 Zeramex XT implants. The implants were placed between September 2017 and October 2021 in a private practice and restored with single crowns, fixed dental prostheses, or overdentures. To ensure a homogeneous study cohort, the statistical analysis was limited to 31 patients with a total of 44 implants restored with single crowns. Patients were followed for at least two years.

During the observation period, no implants were lost and no implant fractures were observed. Accordingly, the survival rate after 24 months was 100%. For the 44 implants restored with single crowns, the success rate based on predefined clinical and radiographic criteria was 93.2% after 24 months.

Mean marginal bone loss (MBL) remained low throughout the observation period. It was 0.24 ± 0.58 mm after 6 months, 0.18 ± 0.62 mm after 12 months, and 0.20 ± 0.66 mm after 24 months. There were no statistically significant differences between the assessment time points. Implants with additional bone augmentation tended to show lower marginal bone loss than implants without augmentation; however, the differences were not statistically significant. Two technical complications were documented.

Overall, the 24-month results for Zeramex XT demonstrate a high implant survival rate, low marginal bone loss, and stable peri-implant tissue conditions.
