With its in-house exhibition “CeramTec: 50 Years in Ceramic Implant Dentistry”, CeramTec celebrates half a century of expertise and innovation in its dental business. For the first time, the exhibition provides insights into the development of high-performance ceramic dental implants—from the early BIOLOX® implants of the 1970s to modern high-performance ceramic implant systems introduced in the 2010s.
The exhibition highlights several key milestones that have shaped CeramTec over the past five decades, including the introduction of the BIOLOX® material as a dental extension implant by Dr. Erhard Dörre and Prof. Ralf Mutschelknauss in 1976, as well as the development of anchor implants, pin implants, and the so-called “Biolox screw.” Together with the CBS implant developed by Sandhaus (1969), the Tübingen implant (1976), and other aluminum oxide ceramic implants, these innovations played a significant role in the early development of ceramic implant dentistry during the 1970s and 1980s.
The exhibition features original drawings, internal memoranda, documentation sheets, and dental implants. This historical retrospective is complemented by the ZERAMEX® ceramic implant systems, which have evolved through five generations since 2009.
Historical exhibits, technical drawings, visual materials, and key milestones in the company's development bring its heritage to life.
The exhibition is aimed at dental professionals, implantology specialists, dental technicians, as well as partners, customers, and media representatives. It will be open to visitors at CeramTec's Spreitenbach site until 30 November 2026.
